Migrating to Content Management Systems (CMS)

Presenters: Guy Heckman, Erin Weber, Beth Phillips

Description: More and more organizations are turning to web-based marketing and dissemination of information. With this they have quickly found their web sites becoming unmanageable and are turning to Content Management Systems (CMS). While CMS's offer greater control and manageability, the path from current systems to CMS-based ones isn't always clear. Please join us as we share some tips, tricks, and lessons learned in the process of migrating a large file-based site to a CMS platform. The information presented will be platform and CMS independent. There will be a short presentation followed by a roundtable discussion. Those organizations that have already migrated to a CMS are encouraged to attend and share their own experiences.

Prerequisite Skills: Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, DOM, web standards helpful but not necessary. This session will be primarily process oriented.
