Presenter Guidelines

Updated for 2010! In an effort to better assist our presenters, the Web 2010 Committee will provide valuable guidelines and advice to help improve your experience when providing a session or workshop at the conference or post-conference.

The following information will outline some of the things you need to know as a prospective presenter at Web 2010:

  • The theme of the conference will be, "2010: A Web Odyssey."
  • The conference will be a two-day event with both sessions and workshops at the Penn Stater.
  • All regular conference sessions on June 7 and 8 will be one hour in length.
  • Workshops on June 7 and 8 will be two hours in length and will take place during the morning conference sessions.  Note: Workshops will take place at the Penn Stater concurrent with the regular conference sessions. For hands on workshops, attendees will be required to bring their own laptops (or otherwise obtain the use of one), therefore you will need to prepare appropriately for this significant change!
  • Unless otherwise noted, your proposal will be considered for either date, June 7 or 8.
  • All local presenters are required to attend one of the two 90 minute orientation session that will be held in  room 141 Computer Building. These orientation sessions will be February 9, 2010 or February 15, 2010.  The orientation sessions are scheduled from 11:30 until 1:00 with lunch provided. The information to be discussed will include: a detailed list of presenter guidelines; presenter time line; session handout suggestions; and an explanation of any new improvements made this year in support of session presenters.
  • Since handouts are no longer provided in the conference printed program, presenters need to provide session handouts in advance of the conference to be included on the conference Web site. Suggestions for handouts will be covered in the orientation.
  • Presentations are limited to 2 speakers unless limit is waived by the Web 2010 Program Committee.  A maximum of two presenters will be compensated for the conference fees per session or workshop.
  • All persons listed as presenters must actively present during the session.
  • Since the conference is moving to a two-day format, we need for you to note your availability for both June 7 and and/or June 8.
  • All presenters will be assigned a session chair to assist with presenter needs, answer questions, and announce the session at the conference.
  • Presenters' conference fees are waived for the conference.

Thank you for your interest in presenting at Web 2010!

Sincerely,

The Web 2010 Conference Program Committee
